My Great-Great-Grandfather Robert Abercrombie b. ca.1808, New Richmond, Ohio. The HISTORY OF CLERMONT COUNTY lists a Judge William Abercrombie living there at the same time Robert was born, but have not been able to find records connecting them. From the book CLERMONT COUNTY, OHIO LAND RECORDS 1787-1812 we found that 1806 to 1810 he bought a total of 364 acres. In 1811 he sold a total 254 acres. We sent for copies of those records and the only new news we found was that his wife's given name Nancy. We are sure there must be some records there show if William Abercrombie is the father of Robert Abercrombie. Can you help us?

Am seeking information on an Elizabeth Shotwell from Clermont County. According to 1830 census information, her father could be one of two John Shotwells, one in Tate Township, the other in Wittenburg ( I abbreviated my notetaking as W'burg so this is only a guess) Township. She was 43 in 1850, so I guess that makes her birthdate sometime around 1807. She married George Cox and settled in Lost Creek Township in Miami County and proceeded to have 10 children including a Dr. William Cox. Any information would be welcomed. Thanks!

My second great-grandfather was John Rapp who immigrated from France ca 1831 and settled with wife & children in Clermont Co., OH. His wife, Catherine, died before 1848 and he married for the second time 25 Dec 1848 to MAGDALENA ROTH ESCHMANN/ASHMAN of Darke Co., OH. She was widow of Peter Eschmann/Ashman who farmed near Greenville, OH and died 1847. They had 8 children. There is a geneology of them that mentions only "she later mar. Mr. Rapp". She applied for a divoce in 1855(CPC 20 Feb 1855) which was denied. I have found no record of John Rapp after that date. I don't know where he died or when. Surely he didn't live with Magdalena again??? Have checked all neighboring counties, and know he didn't return to Clermont Co. to live with his son. Can anyone find him. He was born ca 1783, and died sometime after 1855.

DARK. They came from Ramsbury Wiltshire in 1823 and migrated without the father Thomas in 1834. Whether he came first or died in England I don't know yet. Mother Sarah age 33 migrated with Benjamin Dark age 22 (brother in Law?), children John c 9, Sarah c 13 and Anne Sarah c 11. We know they were in Batavia by 1838 for the marriage of Sarah jr to William WAINWRIGHT. I believe the DARK mother and daughters operated some sort of school, according to family tradition. The youngest daughter Ann Sarah Earle Dark married John W. THOMPSON in Batavia sometime before 1948. The THOMPSON and WAINWRIGHT families moved to MO by 1862 as the Wainwrights only known daughter Eleanor married Eli THOMAS in Benton Co MO. Anyone with any information relating to these families or any DARKs in particular would be a welcome contact. I would like to know exactly where the families lived, their tax and census records, etc. I would very much like to know if the family tradition was correct and if the DARK family did run a school in or near Batavia. I have photographs and family information to share. Suella Fogg Postles
